And half the crisis in the United States, The Brazilian Journal Magazine did a survey among Brazilian immigrants to know what they expect for next year. Hundreds of people returned to Brazil after the Big Apple's economy declined. Barack Obama, elected president of the United States has maintained in his speech throughout the campaign slogan of changing the country and that is what the Americans and, consequently immigrants, expect him to do. The fact that Americans are tired of the attitudes of the current government, was quite good for the victory of Barack. "Let's change the United States," was the phrase used by most Democrats.
The Brazilians who live here waiting for an amnesty. There are many undocumented in the country wishing to regulate the situation for years. According to Guilherme Cosac of 24 years, the historic victory of the first black to command the country is sensational, but he says the Democrats need to do where to gain the trust of those who voted him. "I sincerely hope that he can make at least half of the things we promised. I want this crisis passes soon because the situation we are living is not interesting to anyone. Employment is not easy to get here, "says the student of law. And for the year is approaching, Guilherme hopes Obama do something for undocumented immigrants. "I thought to return to Brazil this year but gave up because I think the new president wants to resolve the situation of immigrants. I hope he will not worry about it and make an amnesty soon. New York City is a formidable and very peculiar. It is fascinating to live here, but will be much better if everyone can enter and leave the country when they want, "concludes Guillaume. For curitibana Fernanda Mendes, 30 years Obama conveys confidence and brings hope that something better will happen soon. She lives in New York just eight months and the fact that she and her husband always wanted to live in New York. "We always want to live abroad, come to the United States was the first option, the second England. Quickly identified in the American culture and have come here. I believe that 2009 will be a year because of the complicated transition from presidents and beginning of a new government. But still I am and I'm optimistic. I believe that everything will be done in the best possible way to have improvements in both the economy and in the situation of undocumented immigrants, "she says.
The Brazilian ends saying that the hopes for the year 2009. "I hope that 2009 and subsequent years are fanstásticos. I love New York for the diversity of peoples, places, colors, flavors. It is a very interesting where you can find all customs of the world. In a corner or in a wagon train for example, you can hear four languages simultaneously. This is fascinating. And if we could change something, would transform the world into a place of complete peace and harmony. ", Says Fernanda.
